The design for the new ferry stop at Holm redefines the existing site as the center of a small traffic system; which organizes the ferryboat logistics, local parking, pedestrian paths and a ramp for private boats, around a circular kiosk and service building. It is designed as a local destination and meeting point in the Norwegian landscape, no longer representing an edge condition on the waterfront but a central node for different transportation means. The roundabout layout allows for clear traffic movement and user orientation, also avoiding the local road to become a dead end. The kiosk structure operates as a landmark that is fully visible from land and sea, performing as a reference point and identity-maker for the Holm area.
