“The Atlantic Road” is constructed of many radial forms in a strict geometry, interrupted by the always changing topography, leaving the traveler with an alternating framed view of the horizon, ocean and landscape. As a contrast to this we propose a complementary horizontal experience; a new path located on a single level, k+8.0, that offer the traveler a possibility to experience the sea and the horizon as a constant. The geometry of the path is playing with the possibilities and limitations of the topography and is made of non-corrosive crates that “float” above the sensitive vegetation. Load bearing footings will be drilled into the mountain. The project, nor the visitors, will ever load the vegetation and airpockets for the roots will remain and keep the flora intact. Rain water will drain through the crate to the plants, leaving the path always dry. The path itself is also designed to embed all seating areas. An information pavilion is reduced to a wall inside the mountain, at the same time acting as retaining wall for non stable ground.
