SKEDSMO CENTER FAÇADE CONCEPT
Restricted Competition November 2005

The project illustrates a new façade concept for an existing shopping- and community centre at Skedmso outside Oslo. The proposal suggests a collection of different claddings based on specificities of existing structures on the 6 different buildings and the immediate surroundings which span from a residential neighborhood to road infrastructure and parking lots. The patterns and colors of the façade types underline this variation, but are simultaneously connected through gradient transitions between them, creating a perception of one continuous project. Yellow and orange (from the existing centre logo) dominates the entry conditions and creates a signal effect, while blue and green colors and patterns wrap the side flanks that gradually dissolve completely on the back side due to reflecting surfaces and vegetation. The materials range from textile, glass panels, pvc panels and simple paint.
