FILIPSTAD PARK

| As an alternative to traditional city development this project illustrates the Filipstad container port in the Oslo bay as a temporary park for the next 15-20 years. It is designed as a band on the outer periphery of the site to ensure full exploitation and public connectivity. This band is programmed, extended, and shrinked responding to adjacent existing conditions (road, water, terminal, existing buildings). The specific shape of the park to the inside of the site is designed to divide and fragment the big asphalt surface into smaller areas with distinct characters. In these zones most of existing buildings continue to operate. The park is a collection of landscape types: forest, lawn, alley and some wood and concrete decks; these elements create walls, rooms and surfaces where bike and pedestrian paths are integrated. The existing asphalt zones are dedicated to diverse temporary programs such as sports, markets, circus, expos, concerts etc. The existing industrial buildings can be rented out for indoor activities such as skating, go-kart, art production, rave, disco and performances. |
