| The construction of the Bjørvika Bay is a huge enterprise that will continue for the next 20 years, we developed a plan where we mapped every possible public space that could exist in the actual construction site, and secure public access to the seafront throughout this extensive building process.
The Site Plan identifies construction sites and suggests in-between public routes and spaces during 3 different phases; the accessibility is physically manifested as a pedestrian area demarcated with temporary elements or urban props and “off the shelves” pedestrian bridges. These pedestrian areas will create viewpoints to ongoing construction sites, visualize and activate new connections to adjacent areas and give access to programmed public spaces.
The pedestrian bridge is designed as a public web, combining two of the city-planned bridges into one big total network. This system of paths transforms the crossing of the tracks into an attraction with multiple entrances and exits; it creates an elevated landscape with multiple choices, links east with west and provides a new east entrance to Oslo Central Station.
