BERGER HOUSING AREA
Masterplan + Sketch proposal May 2006

A masterplan for Berger Skog is designed with the following criteria’s; existing neighbor should have today’s easy and fast access to the forest through “green corridors”, the new boundary to the forest should be as long as possible to preserve diversities in biotopes, community park areas for sports, kids etc add qualities to an heterogeneous development, new roads connects to dead ends to eliminate them, all new sites has direct frontage to the road and finally the development is divided into 4 autonomous, well functioning, construction phases. The detailed part of the project researches on the possibilities of developing a housing catalogue with a building system that can be specific to the shifting and steep terrain with a combination of prefabricated and customized elements. Readymade 18 m2 modules contain all types of room except the living room that is customized on site depending on terrain, view, sun, cost, existing trees etc. The living room is the glue that span between the modules eliminating use of corridors. The modules have either flat or angled roof to adapt to the height differences.
