| The project proposes a new regional theme park based upon intensification of existing identity and programmes - in the middle of a regional node point with efficient infrastructure. Building development is projected in 5 specific enclaves that can happen separate or simultaneously in time. In relation to urban scale, topography and program, the enclaves perform as mediators between existing housing areas and the new park. The site contains a large logistic surface used for Oslo fruit and vegetable distribution. The design suggests an integration of distribution with future housing development creating the “Garden Centre” theme park. Taking advantage of the topography, the new distribution centre is located as terraces creating possible platforms for park, commerce or housing with a view on top. On the top of the distribution centre a lightweight construction with Oslo`s biggest public market for sales of plants, fruit and vegetables could be erected. This market will be a major attraction in the theme park and brand the place. |
